Chip Sibbernsen

April 13, 1943 — July 9, 2011

LOGAN, UTAH: Chip Sibbernsen passed away peacefully in the arms of his family July 9, 2011. In spite of his cancer diagnosis two years ago, Chip continued to live and love every moment of life, becoming an inspiration to all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Evelyn, and two adored sons, Erik and Colin, brother Andy (Debbie), sister Anne (Bob), sister-in-law Shirley (Gene), doting nieces and nephews, a close extended family, and many dear friends. Chip was predeceased by his parents, John, Sr. and Marjorie. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, April 13, 1949, Chip attended Creighton University and went on to do his graduate work at the University of Montana where he met Evelyn. They raised their family in Logan where after 32 years, Chip retired as the Ogden District Ranger on January 1 of this year. He had the honor of serving as a liaison between the Forest Service and Olympic Planning Committee at Snowbasin Ski Area during the 2002
Olympic Games. Chip taught his children well with a deep respect for faith, family, education, the environment, and community service. An endearing wit balanced with common sense and great love for people drew many to Chip. He was our rock who not only gave us love and friendship, but also showed us how to live gracefully and passionately in the face of great adversity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the great fortune of being a part of his life. The family would like to thank Dr. Ali Ben-Jacob and his wonderful staff, Dr. Michael Stones and his dedicated nurses, and our dear friends, Julie and Carol from Community Nursing Services.A visitation from 4 pm to 6 pm and a memorial service from 6 pm to 7pm will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at the Logan Country Club in celebration of Chip’s life.
