Obituary for Chrystal Allen Christensen
SANDY, UTAH: Chrystal A. Christensen, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at the age of 95 of causes incident to age. She was born Oct. 6, 1915 to Charlotte B. Orell and Asael L. Allen in Hyrum, Utah. She graduated South Cache High School and then attended college obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from Utah State Agricultural College in 1937. She married James Arbon Christensen on Nov. 26, 1942. Together they lived in Bicknell, Monroe, Richmond, Smithfield and Logan, Utah as he pursued his career and a seminary teacher for the LDS church. They made many great friends along the way. She lived in Logan for the last 51 years spending the last two years in Sandy at a nursing facility. Chrystal had many interests in her life. She was Executive Secretary to three Deans of the School of Graduate Studies at Utah State University. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints and held many positions within her church. She was an accomplished watercolor artist, gardener, cook and quilter, having one of her quilts hang in the American Quilt Society’s quilt show and being featured in their annual calendar. She will be buried in her tap shoes, as per her request. She had many friends and was loved by all. Chrystal is survived by her sister, Jean Allen, her children Craig (Sue Skarin), Claire (Michael Spackman), Allen (Gail), Judith, Camille (Tom Jennings) and Kimberly, 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 pm in the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street. There will be a viewing Thursdy evening from 6-8 pm and on Friday from 11:30 - 12:30. Interment will follow at the Logan City Cemetery.
