Clarice Skinner Wakefield

November 15, 1934 — December 21, 2008

Clarice Skinner Wakefield, age 74 of Wellsville, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at her home in Wellsville.

Clarice was born on November 15, 1934 in Garland, Utah to Sidney Bertram Skinner and Belva Almeda Lott. She later met and married Richard E. Wakefield on August 3, 1956 in the Logan LDS Temple. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Clarice excelled in athletics while attending Weber State. She was one of the fifteen outstanding female athletes. She lettered in 5 sports while earning her nursing degree. She graduated in the first diploma R.N. program at Weber State University and worked as a nurse for 33 years which was her great love. She loved working with the elderly and in the spiral cord rehabilitation unit.

Grandma always made a special effort to call everyone on their birthday and sing Happy Birthday to them. Dec. 21 was no different. She had a knack of making each grandchild feel that they were the most important person in her life.

She is survived by her husband Richard E. Wakefield and her 7 children, Rosemarie (Lee) of Wellsville; Michael (Ranell) of Roosevelt; David (Wendy) of Nibley; Annette (Chris) of Payson, Utah; John (Tammy) of Wellsville; Kristie (Roger) of Rexburg, Idaho; James (Sherri) of Wellsville. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and her sister LuAnna of Tremonton.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Kent & Kay; her grandson Sven and her 2nd mom Reva.

The family would like extend a special thanks to Rose, Stacy, & Sarah for their excellent round-the-clock care.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, December 26 at the Wellsville 7th Ward, 700 South 100 West in Wellsville. A viewing will be held from 10-11:30 AM prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Wellsville City Cemetery. Condolences and thoughts may be extended to the family online at www.allenmortuaries.net .
