Clark Morgan England, age 76, of Logan passed away peacefully Friday, December 7, 2018 due to complications with a heart condition. He was very much loved by all of us and was the glue and calm that kept us together. He is survived by his wife, Marie, and children, Brian (Chantel), Adrian (Paula) Toledo, Anne Marie, Jean-Louise, Emily, Sarah (Chris) Webb, James (Whitney), Christina (Mike) Hale, David and his brother Thomas. He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Clark was born November 30, 1942 in Pocatello, ID to Margaret Morgan and Rex Hatch England. He married Ruth Marie Skidmore on May 24, 1968 in the Logan, Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He spent his first years of life in Arimo, Idaho until his family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1961. After High School he served in the Marine Corps as well as serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the North Central States Mission. Throughout his life he served in many callings in the church including as counselor in a bishopric, a member of the high counsel, and was ordained a Seventy in 1972. He also served In the community as a PTA president for Adams Elementary school with his wife, President of the Logan chapter of the Red Cross, and President of the Emeriti association at USU.
After his mission, Clark attended Utah State University. During his time as a student he was the Student Body Vice President, President of the Entertainment Bureau, and charter member of the Young Timers Singing group. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Economics in 1969. He also graduated with his MBA in 1977.
Clark retired in 2005, after 33 years of exceptional service to Utah State University. He first worked at the University while attending school, a short time after graduating, an opportunity to return to USU as a full-time employee became available, and he eagerly applied. He started his professional employment career in 1972, working as a purchasing agent in Food Services. His analytical talents were quickly realized, and he was promoted to a Coordinator of Auxiliary Accounting and Communication Services. In 1976, he moved to the Personnel Office as the Manager of Employee Benefits. He was promoted to Assistant Director of Personnel in 1979, and in April of 1983 was promoted to the Director of Personnel Services after competing in a national search. Throughout his career in Personnel he was recognized as an outstanding contributor to his profession, both inside and outside the University. Under his leadership, many innovative and progressive programs were implemented. He particularly enjoyed his association with University employees. His reputation among his peers was recognized in leadership positions he held in the College and University Personnel Association (CUPA), where he cultivated both networking resources and life-long friends. He served as national President of CUPA in 1995-1996. He was not only known for his knowledge and skills but also his unique sense of humor and personal warmth.
After retirement Clark loved spending his time with his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren by supporting their activities, taking them to sporting events and fishing, spending one on one time with them and of course telling them dry dad jokes. He always enjoyed a good hug and snuggles from his kids and grandkids. He served as a temple worker and was an incredibly talented photographer. He loved spending time taking photos of the people and places he loved.
A viewing will be Wednesday, December 12 from 6-8pm at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St., Logan UT. Funeral services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary and will be held Thursday, December 13 at 12:00 p.m. (viewing from 10:30-11:30 a.m.) at the LDS Lundstrom Park 2nd ward building at 1260 North 1600 East, Logan UT. Graveside services will be held at the Logan Utah Cemetery immediately following the funeral services.
