Clinton C. Groll

June 30, 1939 — October 7, 2014

Clinton Christian Groll passed away after a long journey of Alzheimer's Disease on
October 7, 2014 at age 75 in Logan, Utah.
He was born June 30, 1939 in Logan, Cache, Utah, to Christian Groll and Irene
Anderson Groll. He married Bonnie Clark from Idaho Falls, ID, on December 27, 1939,
in the LDS Temple.
He attended Providence Elementary, South Cache High School, and Utah State
University. He received a BS Degree in Forestry. After many part time jobs during
school he graduated and was hired by the U. S. Forest Service on the following Forests:
Kaibab, Coronado, Cibola, Wasatch, and Salmon. He was the Cobalt District Ranger on
the Salmon National Forest. He managed part of the Frank Church Wilderness area in
Idaho. Because of work transfers the family lived in Providence, Logan, Uintah, and
Richmond, UT; Williams and Douglas AZ; Evanston, WY; Ft. Wingate, NM, and
Salmon, ID. He worked over 30 years and retired in 1995. The family moved to
Providence to care for his mother and sister in their late years.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served two
missions for the Church in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, learning his father's native
German language. Later in his life he went on a mission to Nauvoo with his wife,
Bonnie. He was a teamster and also worked in the sites. He served in many other
callings such as Scout Master, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, Stake Mission President,
Counselor to the Bishop, and Bishop. He had a testimony of the gospel and was a good
teacher and leader.
He was an active member of the National Society of Range Management, Back Country
Horseman, and the Old Bulls Riding Club when he retired. He loved horses, mules and
riding in the mountains. He trained many groups on packing animals for trail rides.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Alice Clark Groll and three sons and 1 daughter.
They are Trent Groll of Uintah, UT; Christian and Jeannine Groll of Preston, ID; Laura
and Michael Sorenson of Richmond, UT; and Matthew and Alissa Groll of North Logan,
UT. He has nine grandchildren that brought him much joy.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Christian Groll; his Mother, Irene Anderson
Groll; his sister, Nancy Groll Selley; and sister, Elaine Groll.
He was a good Husband, Father, and Grandpa and we love him dearly.
The viewing will be held Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary at 34 E.
Center in Logan, UT, between the hours of 6 - 8 pm. The funeral services will be held at
10:00 am Monday, October 13, 2014, at the LDS Cobblestone 2nd Ward building at 420
West 100 North, Providence, UT 84332. Burial will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
