Margaret Cloteel “Cloe” Otte Guymon, 97, died on August 27, 2024, in Nephi, Utah. Cloe was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was born in 1926 in Logan, Utah, to Christena Mitton Otte and Alfred Hans Otte, the second of five children. She grew up in Logan and was baptized in the Logan Temple. She loved to ice skate in the winter, and go up Logan Canyon and camp at Bear Lake with her family in the summer. She graduated from Logan High School. Cloe met her eternal sweetheart, Dean Whitford Guymon, in Logan while she was working at Walgreens, and he was attending Utah State Agricultural College. They were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 10, 1948. Together, they enjoyed many adventures with their growing family. They lived in Utah, Colorado, Texas, Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and ultimately settled in Mapleton, Utah. Cloe was a professional floral designer and delighted in making beautiful arrangements for any occasion. She was skilled at embroidery, crocheting, quilting, and made hundreds of knit stocking caps which she donated to charity. Throughout her entire life she loved to sing. Her favorite hymn was “I Am a Child of God.” She attended the temple often and enjoyed her church callings in Primary and Relief Society. She was truly a lovely lady, generous, charitable and pleasant.
Cloe was preceded in death by her husband Dean, son Kirk Bruce, sister Dona Mae Olesen, brother Alfred Ray Otte, sister JoAnn Marie Otte, and son-in-law Charles Neal Walter. Cloe is survived by sister Christena “Teena” Riggs, daughter Joyce (Steve) Smith, daughter Janet Walter, five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Cloe’s family would like to express their appreciation to those who cared for her during her final years.
