Clyde Hurst

January 13, 1920 — February 18, 2014

On Tuesday morning, February 18, 2014, Clyde F. Hurst passed away at his home in Mendon, Utah of old age. He was born in Logan on January 13, 1920 to Clyde and Pearl Hurst at his home on 5th North, where he spent his childhood up until he was married. While at Logan High, he met his sweetheart and companion, Margene Schaub. They were married in March of 1942 in the Logan Temple and spent 68 years together. Margene passed away in December of 2010.
Clyde grew up in the depression era years and learned to work and do without as most did in those times. After high school he worked for the railroad in Nevada in the summers to earn money to go to Utah State. He graduated from college and the ROTC program and was given a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army, and served for 4 years, in California, Hawaii and the islands of Peleliu.
After the war Clyde went to dental school in Portland, Oregon. Clyde graduated in 1949 and they returned home to Cache Valley and set up a home and dental practice. Over the years they have had homes in Logan, North Logan and Mendon. They were blessed with 5 children Clyde R. (Diane) of Kingman, Arizona, Gordon J.(Theresa, deceased) Las Vegas, Nev., Kathleen Walbridge (Tom) Mendon, Stanley E. (Linda) Millville, and Edwin S. (Leslie) North Logan. They have 21 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
Clyde has always been active in the LDS church and has held many positions. He has always had a strong testimony of the Church, of the Book of Mormon and tithing and has been a great example of the gospel teachings. Clyde and Margene loved serving in the Hartford Conn. Mission for 18 months.
Clyde has always loved the out of doors, and over the years has participated in many outings such as hiking, fishing, hunting, skiing, riding horses, and trips to Bear Lake.
Being a great dentist was always a focus of his life, working until he was 75 years old. He developed an excellent reputation for his dental work and also for his long and dedicated service in the local, state and national dental organizations.
The family really appreciates all the care that was given to Clyde over the years by Holly Speth and Sarah Echols. He had a great affection for both of them.
