YOUNG WARD - Clyde Melvin Sorensen (Soup) 76, Was born in Logan Utah on January 17, 1934 to Melvin Edgar and Edith Jessen Sorensen. He past away Friday, January 14 2011 just 3 day’s before his 77th birthday. He graduated from South Cache High School in 1952. He met the love of his life, Marilyn Olson at a Gold and Green Ball and married her a year and a half later on May 28, 1954 in the Logan Temple. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served many callings. He had various jobs to support his family and then worked at Thiokol for 34 years. After he retired from Thiokol he went to work at the Deseret Industries in the salvage yard for 2 years. His loves in life were his family and spending time with them, camping and fishing at Tony Grove, Logan Canyon, Blacksmith Fork Canyon, Bear Lake and Flaming Gorge. Clyde had a huge heart and was always helping others... from giving a few dollars to someone he didn’t know, to giving a stranded motorist a ride home. When he could no longer get around he started making hats. He donated 1600 hats to the Humanitarian Service and gave at least 400 hats to family and friends. We love you Dad! He is survived by his wife Marilyn, and 6 of their 7 children. Lynn Clyde Sorensen, past away when he was 5 years old. Leann (Edward) Lloyd , of Colorado Springs CO. Lex (Joann) Sorensen, of Roy UT. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren and 1 on the way, and 15 great grandchildren. Brother and sister’s; Clara (Claude) Parkinson of Washington City, UT. Dennis (Leona) Sorensen, of College Ward UT. Gearldean (Alan) Boehme, of Wellsville UT. And many nieces and nephews that loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his son Lynn and his parents.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 20 2011, at the College Young Ward LDS chapel, 2394 West 2200 South, Young Ward. Friends and Family may visit Wednesday evening, January 19 2011, at Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan from 6:00-8:00 pm and at the ward Thursday morning from 10:30am until the time of service.
