Clyde Ray Hatch

August 23, 1925 — July 4, 2009

RICHMOND, UTAH - Clyde Ray Hatch, 83, died, Saturday, July 4, 2009 at his home in Richmond , Utah where he has resided for the past 50 years. He was born August 23, 1925 in Preston , Idaho to Joseph L. and Pearl Sharp Hatch. Clyde grew up in Franklin , Idaho . As a boy he enjoyed farming, running equipment and logging up Franklin Basin with his father.

He graduated from North Cache High School . After High School, he worked near Grays Lake taking care of cattle. He lived alone except for an old black dog and half a dozen horses.

Before the summer was over he was drafted into the army. He was assigned to the 106th infantry until World War II ended. He spent a lot of time in Germany and France driving a heavy wrecker. Just before the war ended Clyde was promoted to Staff Sergeant.

After he returned home from the Army he attended three quarters at BYU, when he was called to serve a three-year mission to Denmark for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. During this time Clyde also served as Branch President of the Odense Branch. He had a strong testimony of the Gospel and was a great example to his family in living its teachings. He faithfully served wherever he was called.

Clyde met Estella Gene Randall while attending a LDS fireside. They both loved attending church events and going up the canyon. They were married in the Logan Temple , May 11, 1953.

Clyde worked various jobs in Idaho the first years they were married. In 1959 he took a job with E.A. Miller and continued with the company driving truck until 1990. He worked many years in partnership with his son Russell farming.

He then worked for Lundahl Ironworks driving truck until December 2008.

Clyde and Estella worked and played, laughed and cried, lived and loved together for 56 years.

He is survived by his wife, Estella and five children: Kirt (Kim) Hatch, Trenton; Cidney (Antonio) Escareno, Clarkston; Diane Hatch, Logan; Russell (Mitzi) Hatch, Weston; Marty (Tiffany) Hatch, Preston; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren. His brothers and sisters are: Lavor – deceased (Elva) Hatch, Irven (Clarice – deceased) Hatch, Melvin (Mary) Hatch – both deceased, Harley (Mary) Hatch, Darcus (Dan) Olsen, Dorus (Dave) Haworth, JoAnn and Pearl Hatch both deceased, Lorell (Mary Jean) Hatch, and Clarence (Janene) Hatch.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 12 noon in the Richmond City Creek Ward Chapel, 150 South 100 East in Richmond. Friends and family may call at the City Creek Ward building Tuesday, July 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. and 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the services on Wednesday morning.
