Connie Petersen Haslam

Born on September 29, 1936 to John Albert (Buck) Petersen and Leal Grant.

Rodeo was a family life for them.  This is where she met Jay, the love of her life.  They moved to Wellsville, then moved to Thousand Oaks, California.  This is where they started their family.  They traveled a bit and then moved back to Wellsville.  They continued the Rodeo lifestyle. Connie went on to get her timer card and then her PRCA secretary card where she worked for various stock contractor’s for over 35 years.  She became the wilderness circuit secretary.  She continued to be a Rodeo secretary until she retired in 2014.   She won various awards throughout her career – like secretary of the year in 2001 from the WPRA.  She was great about donating her time to Hospice, Eccles Center and The Attic.

Connie, lived a great and simple life with Jay.  They were very content living within their means and knowing they had everything they needed and wanted.  Well loved member of the church, with so many friends.

She was definitely loved by many people.  Things we will always remember when we think of Connie: she spoke her mind with the attitude of no bullshit.  She was a spitfire and quite funny and a bit of a jokester.  You could look up to her for being a hard worker with old school thoughts and values.  Connie was kind, helpful, honest, respected, and very special.

She will be loving us and guiding us and always in our heart.  We will have an angel watching over us.  She was our mom, grandma, and our friend.

She was proceeded in death by: Husband Jay Haslam, parents, 2 brothers and son in law Michael Haslam.

She is survived by: Debbie Haslam, Lyle (Julie) Haslam; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
