Connie Shelton

September 3, 1928 — December 5, 2011

Connie Giles Shelton was born on September 3, 1928 in Heber City, Utah to Sarah LaRaine and William Montell Giles. She and her sister LuAnn had many wonderful memories of growing up in Heber City, Utah in the valley that their Pioneer ancestors had settled years earlier. Connie graduated from Wasatch High School as Valedictorian, and later continued her education at BYU. In 1947 she married Charles Shelton in the Salt Lake LDS Temple shortly after he returned from World War 2. They had two sons, Kenneth (deceased), and Lynn. After spending a few years in Wendover, they moved their family to Logan where they raised the boys. Connie had a strong work ethic, and was employed at Mountain Bell, and later the Farmers Home Administration until she retired. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers in the Cache Valley area, and was very involved in Church Service. After their sons were raised Connie and Charlie moved to Paradise, where they both resided for the rest of their lives. Connie was an amazing Grandma. Her grandkids have many fond memories of her reading books, and spending lots of time with them. Grandma’s house always had a warm inviting atmosphere which included the best tuna fish sandwiches in the valley and plenty of cookies. Lots of neighbor children loved to visit Grandma’s house, and she loved having them visit. Everyone felt welcome there. Connie’s family wishes to extend their great appreciation to all of her friends in Paradise who provided so much service to her. She was well taken care of, and was truly blessed by all of the good people who surrounded her. Connie is survived by her son Lynn, and her sister LuAnn along with nine grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
