Cyril Delore Garr 1922-2006
Cyril Delore Garr passed away December 12, 2006. Cyril was born August 8, 1922 in Millville, Utah to John Delore Garr and Leone Whitney Garr.
He was raised in Millville, Utah and was a graduate of Utah State University with a degree in accounting and business administration. Cy honorably served his country and was a Lieutenant in Patton's third army during its march across Germany. He continued to serve in the Army Reserve where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel
Cy married Margaret Lila Leatham on May 1, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple. He worked for the Logan Herald Journal as its business manager for many years and later worked as the budget director for the Salt Lake Valley Mental Health Center for twenty five years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions. He was a son of Utah Pioneers with ties to the Garr Ranch on Antelope Island, the early pony express, and the Washakie Tribe of the Shoshone lndians.
Cy is survived by four children: Marshall “Kit” (Loya) Garr, Stephen L. (Susan) Garr, Graylyn L. (Debbie) Garr, and Margaret Garr; a brother, Dennis (Conniie) Garr, and two sisters, Phillis Kingsford and Gwenda (David) Wilson. Cy had fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a brother, Farrell (Dee) Garr and a sister, Lauwana Garr.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 15, 2006 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan. A viewing will be held prior to services at the mortuary from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Interment will be in the Millville Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion.
