D'On G. Reese

October 26, 1937 — September 13, 2022

After a lifetime of devotion to our dad and our family, our precious mom D’On G. Reese died peacefully in her Benson home with her family around her on Tuesday Sept. 13, 2022.

She was born on October 26, 1937 in Logan, Utah. Her parents are Howard and Bernice Johnson, and her father George Gunnell. She was 84 years old, and had endured a worn-out body for several years.

Mom married our dad, W. Lee Reese on October 23, 1952 and was sealed in the Logan Utah Temple the following July on Dad’s birthday. They are blessed with 6 children: Norman (Suzanne), Rick (Valoy), Wayne (Kathy), Terry (deceased), Patricia (JDee) Rasmussen, Kelly (Janice).

Mom worked side by side with our dad as they raised us moving sprinkler pipe, hauling hay, plowing the fields, feeding calves, as well as, making the best meals, and keeping a spotless home. She loved flowers and working in her beautiful yard. She loved being out in the sun, especially with grandchildren around her.

Mom and Dad are blessed with 38 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren for a posterity of more than 100 who each individually felt a personal love from their grandmother. She shared her opinion without charge, and loved unconditionally.

Mom and Dad have always been active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and raised their family in faith and service to our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ, as well as to wonderful neighbors and friends who enrich our lives.

Mom loved her Primary children, her Young Women, and Relief Society Sisters. Mom and Dad served a mission at the Bishop’s Storehouse where they made friends, served their Savior, and of course, Mom made sure it was clean.

Mom is predeceased by her parents and grandparents, by her siblings: Bill, Dick, Jean, Dean, by our brother Terry, and by two sweet granddaughters: Nichole and Crystal. She is survived by our Dad who has cared for Mom with such devotion, by their surviving children, by her devoted Sister Margaret Lofthouse, and their little brothers Paul (Debra), Randy (Beverly), and Robert (Kristi) Johnson. She is also survived by a sister in-law Carol Reese, a brother in-law Clair Nielsen, as wells as many extended family members who she loved. Mom leaves a steady and loving example for each of us to strive to follow.

Moms’ services are supported by Allen-Hall Mortuary, with a viewing at the Mortuary (34 East Center Street, Logan) on Sunday Sept 18, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Her funeral will be held in the Benson Church House, 3472 North 3000 West, on Monday Sept 19, 2022 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing held from 9:30 until 10:30 prior to the funeral. She will be laid to rest next to our brother Terry in the Logan City Cemetery.
