Dale James Read

Dale J. Read
Dale James Read passed away Monday morning June 10, 2013 in the Logan Regional
Hospital. He was born June 12, 1926 in Smithfield, Utah. He was the sixth of nine
children born to William Benjamin and Annie Mae Hill Read. Dale spent most of his
life working on the family farm in Smithfield and Trenton, Utah. Dale served his
country in the Asiatic Theatre during WWII and is an honored veteran. He was a
member of the LDS Smithfield First Ward and served in different callings over the
course of his life. Dale enjoyed the out of doors and would rather spend his time
watching wheat grow rather than attend any meeting. Dale was preceded in death
by his parents, four sisters, three brothers and two grand-sons, Zachary Donelson
Read and Benjamin Richard Read. He is survived by his wife Darlene Perkes Read of
Smithfield, his five children, DeAnn Vanderwerf of Hyde Park, Michael (Debra) Read
of Salt Lake City, Susan (Scott) Dayley of Logan, Vicki Read and Robert Read of
Smithfield. He is also survived by nine grand-sons, one grand-daughter and one
great-grand daughter as well as his brother Paul (LuAnn) Read of Garland, Utah.
Friends and family members may pay respects and offer condolences to the family
Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Allen Mortuary in North Logan at 420
East 1800 North and prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the LDS Church
House located at 175 South 100 West, Smithfield, Utah. Funerals services will begin
at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery family plot with military rites by the South Cache American Legion.
