Dan Raymond Lott

August 4, 1929 — November 25, 2022

Dan Raymond Lott, 93, passed away peacefully in his home Friday, November 25, 2022, from the effects of an esophageal disorder. Dan was born August 4, 1929 to Vern and Wilma Clark Lott, at his grandmother’s home in Declo, Idaho. He was premature and not expected to live, but we are all grateful that he was such a little fighter and lived to bless all our lives.

Dan enjoyed a happy childhood along the banks of the Snake River, as his father moved from plant to plant with the Idaho Power Company, finally settling in Hagerman, Idaho. Dan attended Hagerman High school where he was President of the Student Body, editor of the school yearbook, and a football Letterman. He graduated as the Salutatorian of his class in 1947.

After graduation, Dan attended Idaho State College in Pocatello, Idaho. He was a member of the Men’s Glee Club, the Marching Band as a clarinetist, and also a member of the LDS Institute Choir. He had a lovely voice and loved to sing. He loved music all of his life. It brought him great joy to the very end. While attending Idaho State, he met Ruth Juchau, also a student there, who would one day become his wife.

Dan and Ruth were married three years later on March 23, 1951, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Dan graduated the following year with a major in Electrical Engineering and was recruited by Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, California. They enjoyed a wonderful seven years in Southern California, making many lifelong friends and welcoming their long awaited first child, Bruce Raymond.

Dan was then transferred to the Bay Area, where he began work in the Aerospace Division of Lockheed in Sunnyvale, California. Dan and Ruth first lived in Mountain View, where they welcomed their second child, Denise. A year later, they built a home in San Jose, California, where they welcomed their third child, Lynette and enjoyed the next 25 years among wonderful friends, neighbors, and ward members whom they loved dearly.

Dan enjoyed a very successful and productive career at Lockheed, where he used his many gifts and talents to contribute immeasurably to the Aerospace industry. Dan was always a team player and strove to help everyone in his department excel. He made wonderful friends whom he enjoyed working with and also spending time with after work hours.

Dan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in many callings, among them, serving in two Bishoprics, on the High Council, and as Stake Executive Secretary, which he greatly enjoyed. A highlight of his church service was teaching Early Morning Seminary to the Youth. They were a great joy to him.

Dan loved the out of doors. He enjoyed camping, backpacking, fishing, and canoeing with his family and friends. He enjoyed woodworking and was often found in his garage working on a project. He also enjoyed watercolor painting, reading, and doing genealogy. He loved to learn and try new things.

Dan was a very quiet, gentle, and reserved person, who did not like to be in the limelight, but he was always behind the scenes, helping anyone in need with whatever he could, with great love and generosity. He and Ruth made a wonderful team and were blessed to enjoy 71 years of marriage. They loved living these last 37 here in Providence with all of you.
Dan will be dearly missed by his wife, Ruth, his children, Bruce, Denise, and Lynette(Dave), his nine grandchildren, and his nearly 18 great grandchildren. Also by his brothers and sister, Donald (Judy), Kent (Iris), and Verna Lee, Brother- in- law, Mont and Sister in Law, Karen, dear adoptive sisters, Margaret and Sandy, many nieces, nephews, and many, many dear friends.

Dan was welcomed home by his parents, Vern and Wilma, in-laws, Titus Levere and Elda, brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan, Clyde, Carol, Joyce, Betty, Loree, and Jay.

We would like to thank Nancy and her team at Intermountain Hospice for their wonderful help with Dan’s care his last few days.
