It is with both sorrow and joy that the families of Daniel Philip Gray, Sr. announce that "Danny Boy" went home to be with our Lord on February 21,2009.
Danny was born in Carrolltown, PA. on January 6, 1923 the fifth of nine children of Bernard Joseph and Ethel Bridget Hanlon Gray. He spent his early life in his home state before joining the newly formed "U.S. Air Corp". During the heightened years of World War II, Danny served our country throughout Europe, including seeing duty at the Battle of the Bulge and as a concentration camp was liberated.
Upon returning from the war Danny moved to Southeast FL., where he eventually met his wife of 50 plus years, Alice Jane Brown - Gray. Together they raised three daughters and a son.
Danny spent most of his working career with Gulfstream Lumber Company in Boynton Beach, FI. working in contractor sales where he was loved by both his customers and fellow workers alike.
Danny is survived by his wife Alice Jane Brown - Gray of Logan, UT.
His daughter Shirly Ann Gray - Foltz, of Logan, UT., her children Alicia, Heather, Jennifer and Timothy as well as their spouses and her grandchildren, Selenia, Moira, Spencer, Isaiah, Olivia, Matthew, Jacob and James.
His son Daniel Philip Gray, Jr. of Canon City, CO., his children Daniel Philip Gray-III, Robert Michael Gray, Rachel Susan Gray, Victoria Marie Gray, David Joseph Gray, as well as their spouses and his grandchildren Danielle, Michael, Angel and Emmiley.
His daughter Teresa Jean Gray - Myers of Provo, UT. and her daughter Stephannie.
His daughter Mary Martha Gray - Bailey of Logan, UT. and her children Keven Todd, Aubrey, Ashlee and Amanda, as well as their spouses and her grandchildren Kaitlyn and Brycen.
Danny is also survived by his younger brothers, Donald (Ginny) Gray of Derry, Pa., Francis (Buddy) Gray of Santa Cruz, Ca., and his baby sister Alyce (Jack) Roman of Raleigh, N.C., whose photo he carried in his wallet for more than 50 years.
A memorial service will be held at 1 :00 PM on Sat, March 21, 2009 at the (old Cranney Mortuary), Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 East 1800 North. The ceremony will have an open podium for all who wish to express themselves in this farewell. Military Honors will follow the service.
The families invite all of Danny's friends and families to an Old Irish Wake on Saturday
March 21, 2009 beginning at 2:00PM. Food will be served (we Irish fancy a free meal). Dress: Irish casual (Casual with some green out of respect) Location: Legacy Village Apartments Clubhouse 1651 N 400 E, Logan Utah For further information please contact Mary Bailey @ 435-512-0993 Danny's remains will be returned to Johnstown, PA., where other family members lay at rest, this, per his wishes.
