Darla Mae Herzog Rolph
Darla Mae Herzog Rolph, 75, passed away July 25, 2012 at her home in Nibley following a battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 10, 1937 to Wesley Herzog and Sara Gleed Herzog.
Mom attended school in Logan. She married Kenneth Maurer from Nibley. They had three children. They were later divorced. Later, she married Jay Rolph who lost his battle with cancer. She spent the remainder of her life with her dear friend Carl Sorenson. Mom worked for the Baugh Motel and Dee’s in Logan and continued to work there over the years as it changed over to Hardees, then Burger King. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mom was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a great cook, homemaker, and host, and was always eager to please her family and guests with great food and a welcoming home. She was energetic, feisty, fun, warm, and was so very sweet. She always worried about everybody else above herself and strived to make sure everyone’s needs were met. She is loved so dearly, and will always be in our hearts.
She is survived by her daughters; Debbie Trolson, Lisa (Jim) Merritt, her son; Lynn Maurer, her step-daughter; Brenda Rolph, her dear friend; Carl Sorenson, her grandchildren; Jared (Jasmine) Trolson, David Trolson, Jade Maurer, Justin Maurer, Jacob Maurer, Jennifer Maurer, Talisha (Mark) Tremayne, Beckie (Mike) McCuin, Krystina (Colby) James, Robert Merritt, and her great-grandchildren; Tristan, Alyvia, Payton, Allee, Ashlee, Haylei, Jastin, Dravyn, Brynn, and Damien. She was preceded in death by her father, her mother, Kenneth Maurer, Jay Rolph, her step-daughter; JayLyn Anderson, her son-in-law; Thomas Trolson, and a great grandson; Tasen.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and aides and everyone at Access Hospice who helped her through her battle with cancer, and Katie her social worker, Bart, and Adrienne, her nurse, that helped us all through this and formed a very strong friendship with mom.
Funeral Services will be held at noon on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012 and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Condolences may be sent to the family at
