David Lavern Andersen

David Lavern Andersen, age 81, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, in Logan, Utah, following an extended journey with illness.

David was born on July 24, 1943, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Ervin Lavern Andersen and Dorothy Valine Roberts. He graduated from Pocatello High School and served as a member of the Army National Guard. David built a successful career as a business owner in men’s clothing, which took him and his family to various locations including South Dakota, California, Minnesota, Utah, and Idaho.

On October 2, 1965, David married the love of his life and eternal companion, Tamara Joy Perleberg. In June of 1983, they were sealed as a family in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together, David and Tammy built a loving home and raised two sons, Scott and Todd. David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

David was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in numerous callings, including Young Men’s President, Bishop, and High Counselor. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he served his community and church with dedication and kindness.

David had a profound love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years, including memorable fishing trips to Alaska. He was also a passionate Utah State Aggies fan and participated as a booster, attending countless sporting events to cheer on his team. David loved to travel, and he treasured the many cruises he shared with family and friends.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Ervin (Andy) and Dorothy Andersen; his beloved wife, Tamara (Tammy) Andersen; his twin sister, Karen Thorsted; his sister, Janice Dixon; and his brother, Larry Andersen.

He is survived by his children, Scott (Angie) Andersen of Logan, UT, and Todd (Wendy) Andersen of Pocatello, ID; his brothers, William (Lois) Andersen of Florence, AZ, and Kevin (Cheryl) Andersen of Chubbuck, ID; his sister, Juliene (Mark) Wasem of Hazen, ND; his brother-in-law, Lloyd Thorsted of Abilene, TX; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rance and Lois Perleberg of Huron, SD. He is also survived by his cherished grandsons, Caden (Brittney) Andersen of Idaho Falls, ID, Austin (Alyn) Andersen of South Weber, UT, Andy (Lina) Andersen of North Salt Lake, UT, and Bryson Andersen (Haley) of Logan, UT, as well as two great-grandchildren, Breu and Hadley.

David’s kindness, love, and service left a lasting impact on his community and the lives of those he served. He will be remembered for his warm heart and his unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and faith.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E Center St., Logan, UT. Another viewing will take place on Monday, December 30, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Logan 43rd Ward building, 1255 N 600 E, Logan, UT. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Graveside services will be held immediately after the funeral at Logan Cemetery.

The family extends a special thank you to the many caregivers at Maple Springs in North Logan who cared for David over the past four months.

David’s life motto, “If you have the chance to do it, do it,” inspires us to live life fully and embrace opportunities. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
