David Francis Anderson passed away February 25, 2023. David was born a Utah holiday baby July 24, 1954 to Francis Lyman Anderson and Dora Winnifred Olsen Anderson in Delta, Utah. He had a happy childhood in the small farming town of Oak City, Utah, near his doting Grandma Macel.
When he was about four years old, the family moved to Ely, Nevada, where his dad got a job working for Kennecott. David attended elementary and high school in Ely along with his five siblings. He participated in drama and art, but his loves were Motocross, demolition derbies, hunting, and fishing. It was in Ely that he met Yvette Joy, who became his first wife and blessed him with two beautiful girls, Brenda and Marlene, whom he loved all of his life even though circumstances became such that he could not spend time with them as they grew. Later he would share his life with many who cared for him deeply. He always loved his many nieces and nephews and kept letters and cards from them and from his Grandma.
David had a great work ethic. He always had a job and was valued and respected as a person and an employee. He worked as a truck driver for Miller Bro. and Sharp Trucking until his health required him to retire. He spent many years battling health troubles that followed him throughout his life. He developed cancer in 2017 and struggled with it until the bitter end.
David was a kind and generous man who would give the shirt off his back or a hand up to anyone in need and will be sorely missed by his many loyal friends and by his family. He is survived by his mother, Winnifred Cope, and by his siblings: Laura Jean (David) Neilson of South Jordan, Utah; Gail (Marc) Leager of Logan, Utah; Peter (Colleen) Anderson currently of Kirtland, Ohio; Kay (Janae) Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska; RaeLyn (Bryan) Boothe of Orem, Utah; and Leah (Ken) Bartley of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He will be greeted on the other side by his father; his step-father, Benjamin Cope; and his brothers-in-law Russell Seamons and Paul Lusk.
A viewing and celebration of David’s life will be held at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, Utah, Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. No formal funeral will be held. Interment will be in Ely, Nevada, sometime in the summer.
