David Lloyd Baer
March 20, 1958 – December 12, 2015

Our dear husband, father, son, brother and uncle, David Lloyd Baer left this earthly existence on December 12, 2015, from complications related to heart failure. His beloved wife, Elizabeth Halbostad Baer, was at his side. He was born March 20, 1958, in Glendale, California, and died in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is the oldest child of Lloyd and Joyce Baer of Providence, Utah and the father of Kirsten Baer.

He was preceded in death by his father Lloyd, sister Holly Duncan, nephew Stephen Duncan and father-in-law Oddvar Halbostad. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, daughter Kirsten, mother Joyce, brothers Roger and Cody (Kim) Baer, mother-in-law Mary Louise, sister-in-law Mary, brother-in-law Oddvar and numerous nieces and nephews.

David grew up in Providence, Utah where he learned to play and love the violin. He is was an accomplished musician and traveled to Europe with the orchestra. Most recently he played with the Germantown Symphony in Tennessee. He served an LDS mission to Hong Kong from 1977- 1979. The last 6 months of his mission, he helped set up the Toronto Cantonese speaking mission in Toronto, Canada. He loved speaking Cantonese; he even spoke Cantonese to one of the food service personnel at the hospital shortly before he passed away.

He married, Elizabeth on October 17, 1997 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with a daughter, Kirsten. David loved spending time with his family. He was one of the “3 Baer’s”. Together they traveled, watched movies and reached out to everyone around them. He enjoyed watching Masterpiece Theater and U of U football or basketball games with family and friends. He lived daringly, often sporting a U of U hat in cougar territory. He loved his work.
David was a caring, selfless man and will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to thank all who have been so kind and generous during David’s recent medical difficulties. There were so many acts of kindness that will be remembered and carried with us forever.
