David Lamar Doutré
Our crazy, fun, caring, one-in-a-million dad, David Lamar Doutré, died peacefully at home in the early hours of Saturday, March 19, 2011.
Born on June 17, 1927 in Logan, UT to William and Georgene Davidson Doutré. He graduated from Logan High then entered the Navy towards the end of WWII where he was trained as a rear gunner/radio man. He served an LDS mission to the Spanish American mission, where he developed a love for the people and missionary work. He graduated from Utah State University, member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Commissioned a 2nd LT in the Army Reserve, and participated in USU tennis and boxing teams.
On October 10, 1952 he married Greta Ashcroft in the Logan Temple. Settling in Salt Lake City, he enjoyed school teaching as a career where he made learning fun and is often remembered by many students. As an active and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he served in various teaching and leadership positions. He loved home teaching, being a temple worker for 30 years and serving with his wife at the church employment center.
He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and grandpa. Forever in perpetual motion, he loved tennis, biking, basketball, and was always ready for a road trip. He loved talking to people and was a great neighbor and friend to all. His life was an inspirational example to all of us.
Survived by his wife, Greta; children: David (Marie), Craig (Suzanne), Scott, Greta-Ann Cook, Lisa McDermott (Scott); grandchildren: Jacob and Taylor Doutré, Chase and Madison Doutré, Caylie Cook, Alexandria, Ellise, and Erica McDermott.
