David Glenn Farnsworth

July 10, 1948 — March 20, 2025

Hyde Park, Utah

David Glenn Farnsworth, 76, passed away peacefully at home on March 20, 2025, after a nine-year cancer journey.

Dave was born on July 10, 1948, in Murray, Utah, to Gail Davies Farnsworth and Rosetta Jean Densley. He was the oldest of five children.

Dave graduated from Box Elder High School in 1966. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Navy in 1968 and was stationed in Boston, Massachusetts. While serving in Boston, Dave met Kathy Murdock at a Cambridge Ward singles activity. They were married on June 6, 1970, in Weston, Massachusetts. On February 6, 1976, they were sealed in the Logan Temple. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management from Utah State University in June of 1976. Over their 54 years of marriage, Dave and Kathy made their homes in both Logan and Hyde Park where they raised their five children.

Known for his friendly, hardworking, and outgoing personality, Dave was a workplace favorite at Safeway and 7-11, where he worked as a manager for 25 years. He had a warm welcome and a friendly smile for every customer and made countless friends throughout his career.

Music and theatre were a significant part of Dave’s life. He loved to play the piano, especially in Primary, and his early-morning Sunday practicing was often a wake-up call for his family. Dave developed a love for performing that began when he joined his daughters in the Festival of the American West. He went on to perform in numerous productions at various local theaters. Many of his favorite roles were performed at the Old Barn Theatre in Collinston, Utah.

The outdoors was a second home to Dave. He was happiest spending time with his family in nature. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and rockhounding. Sharing his knowledge of these things was something that brought him joy. He spent countless hours teaching his kids, grandkids, or anyone else he could rope in about his interests. With his special brand of humor, not always amusing everyone, but at least amusing himself, he made everyone feel wanted and comfortable. Dave loved his family, blood or chosen, more than anything.

Dave is survived by his wife, Kathy, his children Jason (Lori) Farnsworth of Farmington, Utah, Kurt (Marianne) Farnsworth of Syracuse, Utah, Cinda (Paul) Allen of Petersboro, Utah, Carrie (Jim) Clark of Lake Havasu, Arizona, Sam Farnsworth of Hyde Park, Utah, and Robert (Lauryn) Murdock of Layton, Utah. He leaves behind 25 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, as well as his brothers, Scott Farnsworth and Kevin Farnsworth, and his sister, Claudia Barney. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Kerry Farnsworth.
