David “Bruce” Hunter, 76, peacefully passed away Monday, February 3, 2025. Bruce was born January 22, 1949, in Ogden, Utah, to David J. and Jean Fay Dodge Hunter.
The Hunter family moved from Odgen to Logan, Utah in 1950 to open “Dave’s Bakery.” When Bruce was young, he was an accomplished roller skater and performed with the Roller Raspodies at the Logan Roller Rink. He attended Adams Elementary and Logan Jr. High, where he played the saxophone in the marching band. He graduated from Logan High School in 1967 where he was active in student government.
Bruce began skiing at a young age when he was given a free pair of skis his older brother found. He excelled at it and was on the Logan High School ski team. After high school, he attended Utah State University and became a truck driver for E.A. Miller. He loved “driving truck” and kept all his trucks spotless.
Bruce married Kathaleen Sitterud in Logan in 1976. He adopted her two children, Jamie and Kirt. Bruce and Kathy’s two sons, Jon and Tyson, completed their family.
Bruce loved cars and trucks and when you brought up the name of an old classmate, he could remember what car they drove. He especially loved his Harley Davidson. Bruce and Kathy went on many road trips with their friends.
Bruce was Kathy’s biggest cheerleader. Kathy was a dedicated and accomplished runner and Bruce would accompany her on her training runs, creating aid stations with Gatorade, water, and music every two miles.
Bruce was a great friend to all and was able to keep his positive attitude throughout his life, even though he had many health challenges. Through it all, he never complained.
Bruce is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Jamie Anderson (Mike) of Stansbury Park, Utah, son Kirt Hunter of Cottonwood Heights, Utah, son Jon Hunter (Leslie) of Farmington, Utah, and son Tyson Hunter of Smithfield, Utah.
