David Alan McDonald

April 18, 1955 — September 10, 2024

Smithfield

David Alan McDonald, 69, left this mortal life peacefully in his home on September 10, 2024. He was loved by many.

The fourth of seven children born to Lee and Laura McDonald, David learned the importance of family. As a senior in high school, David met Laura Hansen who would become his wife of 45 years. David would go on to work as a machinist to provide for his family of three children.

His favorite hobbies included gardening, fishing, and late-night infomercial shopping (his preferred surgery rehab program).

David fought to the end, overcoming many medical procedures throughout his life. He and the family felt a recent heart surgery would be just one more hurdle to overcome, with the hope that it would provide renewed health and vigor for many more years. Sadly, it wasn’t to be. David was preceded in death by his father and brother (both named Lee). He is survived by his mother Laura, his loving spouse Laura, his children: Audrey, Daniel, and Rachel, his grandchildren: Kylie, Lexee, Riley, and Tanner, and one great-granddaughter Jasmine.

We would like to thank the Smithfield Fire Department and Smithfield Police for everything they did to help with our dad and husband.

A Graveside Service for David will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 11:30 am at the Smithfield City Cemetery. A viewing will be held prior to the graveside service from 10-11 AM at Allen Mortuary of North Logan 420 E. 1800 N. Logan.
