LOGAN- Dr. David Eastman Skabelund, 64, passed away suddenly of a heart attack, June 9, 2017 while caring for his buffalo in Thatcher, Idaho.

He graduated from Utah State University in 1975 and continued on to the Autonomous University of Guadalajara where he specialized in internal medicine, graduating with a medical doctorate degree in 1979. While in Evanston, he met the love of his life Teresa Ann Sorci, a second-year nursing student. They married September 10, 1982.
He is survived by his wife Teresa whom he wholeheartedly loved and adored and couldn’t wait for their next adventure; children Jacob (Stacy) Skabelund of Las Vegas, Nevada, Diana (Justin) Karren of Logan, Utah, and Courtney Skabelund of Providence, Rhode Island; Grandchildren Carter (Buzznuts) and Katherine (Hootie) Skabelund of Las Vegas, Nevada; Cache (O’la Payola), Ellie (Smellie), and Brooklyn (Kiki) Karren of Logan, Utah; Brothers Steven (Vanette) Skabelund, Gregory (Shelly) Skabelund, and Courtney (Shanna) Skabelund; Sisters Susan Barton and Marcia (Todd) Johnson; his faithful ranch companion, Marley; and extended family and friends too numerous to name.
David was an avid outdoorsman and rancher. He was the vigilant steward of a large heard of American Bison, animals he loved dearly. When not at the ranch or working at the hospital, David filled his days hiking, fishing, rafting, biking, skiing, and traveling the world with his wife and friends. He had an insatiable passion for acquiring knowledge and took particular interest in photography, foreign languages, and world history. Despite decadent meals from six different continents and various trips to Italy, Spain, France, Ireland, Germany, Cuba, Croatia, Peru, Honduras, Guatemala, China, Mongolia, and Mexico, David made clear that every dinner made by Teresa was the “Best meal I have ever had.”
Above all, David loved his family. He was happiest when surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
