David Bruce Tams

August 26, 1946 — March 3, 2013

David "Bruce" Tams passed away March 3.2013 at Intermountain Medical Center in
Murray. Utah surrounded by his loving family following a 10 year battle with cancer.
Bruce was the only child born to Margaret Murphy Tams and Floyd Tams on August 26,
1946. He grew up in Logan and attended Logan City Schools, graduating from Logan
High in 1964. He served in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam war from 1965
to 1969 and was honorably discharged. He served on the USS Epperson destroyer as a
sonar technician based out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. On July 18, 1967, he married Linda
K. Peterson and together they had three children. After being discharged from the Navy,
they returned home to Cache Valley making their home in Smithfield, Utah and then
settling in Logan, UT. He started working at Moore Business Forms in October of 1969
retiring as a press operator in 2010.
He enjoyed John Wayne movies, Louis L' Amour books, shooting pool at the White Owl,
golfing, hunting and fishing with his friends and son. He also enjoyed just getting in his
truck and going for a drive. He took great pride in his yard. His children, grandchildren,
and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life and he cherished every one of them,
always desiring for them to succeed and be happy.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his grandparents, his father-in-law,
Stuart Peterson and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife Linda of 45 years; his children, Teresa Lyn Hallberg, Lisa
(Bruce) Childs, and Robert Bruce "Bubba" Tams; eight grandchildren, Bre Childs,
Shelby Childs, Brianna Hallberg, Jaden Camphouse, Dalton Childs, Bracken Camphouse,
Austin Hallberg, and Tayson Childs; three great-grandsons, Emmett Hallberg, Jaxon
VanNatter (Camphouse), Cooper Marshall; and his mother-in-law Avis Peterson.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel , 34 East Center St., Logan, UT. There will be a viewing on Thursday evening, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Friday prior to the services from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
