David Lloyd Brewer
The man I love died today. This dear, sweet, kind, thoughtful, gentle, gentleman left us suddenly on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. While sitting in a chair at the kitchen table waiting for the sun to rise, he closed his eyes for a moment, when he awakened his spirit had entered a different realm. A brilliant, warm, encompassing light filled his soul with sunshine. What a glorious moment that must have been.
David Lloyd Brewer Sr. was born July 24, 1938, in SLC., UT. He was the second of five sons born to Lloyd Richard Brewer and Willie Myrtle Black.
As a young man he withdrew from school to help support his family. Life was difficult and in the midst of his struggles he was blessed with the ability to solve problems and find success in extreme circumstances. David understood that his family needs were more important than a formal education at this time, knowing that when he found resolve he would returned to school. At age 17 he was able to pursue the desires of his heart. He graduated from Humboldt State College, with a Physics degree and as a freshman received the Sigma Psi Research Award, an honor previously presented only to seniors. He received a research grant to Scripps Institute of Oceanography and completed his doctoral course work there. Later in life he earned his doctorate in Mechanical Engineering.
David and I met and fell in love in November 1967. We were married in San Diego, CA. on January 20, 1968. Our marriage was solemnized on September 22, 1978 in the S.L. Temple (you know what they say, “Good things are worth waiting for.”)
Together we have 4 children, David Lloyd Jr (Diana); Rachel Marie (Jeremy); Edgar Mark (died in infancy); and Paul Davis. We have been blessed with 6 beautiful grandchildren, Deborah, Ashley, and Mark Brewer; Lauren, Davis, and Bridget Lundevall.
Just a few days ago, Grandpa said, “These kids will never know how much I’ve cherished every moment with them.” I believe they know. I hope Grandpa knows that they also cherished every moment beside him.
For my sweet David everyday was a gift. Whether we explored uncharted territory or sat on the couch holding hands, talking. Life’s simple pleasures brought excitement and passion to our daily routine, we found joy in grocery shopping, watching the birds, family dinners, cooking doughnuts, scripture study, sharpening pencils, serving others, taking early morning drives, and of course we can’t forget the daily Wal Mart Fix. We lived, loved, laughed and cried together. We truly had a beautiful life. We love you, XOXOXO. Till we meet again....
