David Neilsen John

March 29, 1962 — May 18, 2008

David Neilsen John, 46, passed away suddenly Sunday, May 18 at his home in Logan from cardiomyopathy.
Dave was born March 29, 1962 in Logan to Stephen and Bonnie John. He attended school in Logan and graduated from Logan High in 1980. He married Troy Hymas, from which came four lovely children: Tianna, Brieann, Taycia, and Ryan. They were later divorced, but he stayed very close to his children. He would say the best thing about having his children was that they made him a Grandpa - he cherished his three grandchildren: Jensie, Hayden, and Jace ("do you want to see some pictures?"). He was employed at ATK Thiokol for several years. Dave loved all sports, and played basketball and football in high school. He also loved to golf, and was the club champion of the Logan River Golf Course in 1994. Dave loved life and people and lived it to the fullest. He was everyones best friend, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for those he loved. He was called by many as the "gentle giant", and had the biggest heart, which was what took his life in the end. They say that "only the good die young", and Dave was as good as it gets. He will be greatly missed. Dave is survived by his parents, Stephen and Bonnie John, Logan; children, Tianna (Clint) Gunnell, Kearns; Brieann (Spencer) Tuinei, Riverton; Taycia and Ryan John, Riverton; his grandchildren, Jensie and Jase Gunnell and Hayden Tuinei; brothers and sisters, Stephanie (Rick) Thomas, South Jordan; Mike (Laurie) John, North Logan; Nancy (Lance) Reese, Kaysville; and Jeff (Jeanette) John, Providence. He was preceded in death by a niece, Trina Thomas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Allen-Hall Mortuary. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday.
