PARADISE, UTAH: DaWayne Richman, 80, of Paradise, Utah passed away quietly on November 27, 2006 of cardiovascular complications.
He was born March 31, 1926 in Paradise to William Sinfield Richman and Elizabeth Norris Richman. He graduated from South Cache High School. DaWayne served his country, joining the United States Navy in World War II and serving aboard an aircraft carrier, the USS Casablanca in the Pacific.
After returning from the war, he married Ila Rae Hall on January 4, 1951 in the Logan Temple. DaWayne worked tirelessly every day to manage the family farm, which has been in the family for four generations. In 1996, the Farm Bureau honored DaWayne by designating this farm as a "Century Farm". He was recognized as the "Outstanding Farmer" by the Farm Bureau.
Throughout his life, DaWayne was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various positions.
DaWayne served not only in the church but also in the community. For 20 years, DaWayne drove a school bus for Cache County School District. He always had a smile for each student. At Christmas each student on his bus received a See's butterscotch lollypop as a special treat. He served on the Paradise Cemetery Board and local irrigation company's board. He was a member of the Lion's Club and a member of the American Legion. For many years he put flags on the graves of veterans on Memorial Day. DaWayne also spent a number of years decorating the Community Booths at the Cache County Fair.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ila Rae; his children Raeleene (Shyrl) Clawson of Providence, Joyce (Lynn) Siler of Logan, Paulette (Reed) McKenna of North Logan, Greg (Ann Smith) Richman of Paradise; eleven grandchildren, Justin, Joni, Michael, Logan, Elise, Corey, Taren, Ryan, Shandee, Mitch and Bode; and one great-grandchild, Keerin; his brothers Ellis Richman and Lowell Richman.
DaWayne had unlimited patience and always a kind smile for everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters: Phoebe Jones and Leanore Mendelkow.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, December 2nd, at the Paradise Chapel, 155 East 9400 South, Paradise, UT. Services will be conducted by Bishop Michael Ralphs. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 1st at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center in Logan, and from 10:30 to 11 :30 am on Saturday at the Paradise Chapel. Interment will be at the Paradise Cemetery following the service with a military tribute by the American Legion. Condolences may be sent to the family at
