Dawn Sharren Ohlson Perry returned home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 25th, 2025, peacefully surrounded by her family, listening to Elvis and Elton John favorites. She lived a long, full life, was loved by, and will be greatly missed by, family, friends and all who encountered her.

She was swept off her feet at the tender age of 16 by her eternal sweetheart, Ivan Thomas Perry. One of their favorite songs was “Devoted to You”, by The Everly Brothers, which captures the essence of their relationship. Dawn and Ivan were married on November 10, 1961 in Ogden, Utah (later solemnized in the Los Angeles temple), and were devoted to each other for their 52 year marriage, which will continue for eternity.

Dawn graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1961, and after raising their family, returned to education, completing her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Utah State University in 1995, and later pursued a master’s degree in psychology. She used her knowledge and devoted her resources to caring for others at CAPSA, YCC Ogden, and other organizations dedicated to serving and advocating for survivors of abuse and others in need of a helping hand and caring heart.

Dawn was artistic to her core. From dancing to cooking and baking to sewing, painting, needlepoint and all forms of crafts, her home was filled with her loving creations— and any song by Elvis Presley. She raised her family with a strong sense of passion for life, individuality, and the knowledge that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. She created a caring safe space for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to always return for a meal, a hug, a shoulder to cry on or a place to stay. She was kept young by the constant affection of her entire family. She was generous with her time, money, and love. She had many friends that she met along the way, some random strangers who she immediately started conversations with. She made people feel special and they loved her for it.Dawn is survived by her six children, Scott (Tim) of Chicago, IL, Sherril of Fairview, UT, Suzanne (Garrett) of Syracuse, UT, Dawna (Sam) of Castle Rock, CO, Alan of Delta, CO, Sean (Stephen) of San Jose, CA; twenty grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Alan (Pam) of Roy, two sisters-in-law, Alene Barker of Pocatello, ID, Mary (Gary) Baird of Taylor, UT, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Thomas, her father, Donald Crandall Ohlson, her mother, Stella Irene Harris, her sister, Mary (Larry) Thomason, her brother, Elwood (Janet) Ohlson, and son-in-law, Michael Saunders.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, March 31st, at Allen Hall Mortuary. Friends may visit family from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m., prior to the services, and from 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday evening at Allen-Hall Mortuary, at 34 East Center Street, Logan, Utah. Interment will be at the Hyrum City Cemetery following the services on Monday. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net.

Her family wishes to thank the staff of Fairfield Village and Inspiration Hospice in Layton, whose extraordinary care, compassion, and kindness made Dawn’s last days peaceful, and the many friends and family members who offered support, help, guidance, and company to her and her family.
