Deanne Jones Potter February 25, 1953-July 16, 2018
Deanne Jones passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at her home in Logan. She was born in Logan, Utah to William and Wilda Jones. Deanne grew up on Center Street in Logan and has many fond memories of her home and friends there. She attended Woodruff Elementary and Logan High School, graduating in 1971. Deanne enjoyed playing hopscotch and was involved in tournaments with her childhood friends. She liked to dance and was part of her high school Rifle Drill team. Deanne was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As a young adult she set an attendance record for not missing a single church meeting in six years.
Deanne married Paul Potter on March 9, 1973 in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they had three children, Keith, Kory and Mindy. Deanne and Paul raised their children in Youngward, Utah. Deanne worked a variety of jobs once her kids got into school. She worked at the Herald Journal, Leisure Travel and then at USU in the Campus Recreation Program, where she worked her way from secretary up to the Director. Deanne was a hard worker; she was on time every day, very organized and did her best with any task given to her. She was able to travel with her job at USU, which she truly enjoyed. She had a lot of good memories and made a lot of friendships while working there.
Paul passed away in 1991, leaving Deanne to raise their kids on her own. She worked hard to provide for them and ensure they were able to do the activities they wanted. As an active member of the LDS church, she had many callings but enjoyed the time she spent in Primary and Young Women’s the most. She remarried in 1997 to Jim Williams. Although they later divorced, they remained good friends and had a lot of fun times together.
At the time of Deanne’s death she was living in Logan. She enjoyed going with friends to movies, out to dinner and traveling. She also enjoyed visiting different family members out of state. She loved spending time with her grandkids and attended all the sporting events and dance performances that she could.
Deanne is survived by her children, Keith (Malissa) of Seattle, WA, Kory (Lori) of Providence and Mindy Olson (Jed) of Wellsville. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, Zeb, Charlie, Jack, Lily, Henry, Auston, Saige, Riley, Brinley, Halle, Croydon, Karley and Gracie. Also surviving are her sister and brothers, Carolyn Kunz (John), Brent (Kathy) and Wayne, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Ron Peck and her husband Paul Potter.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday July 23, 2018 at Allen Hall Mortuary. There will be a viewing on Sunday July 22nd from 6:00-8:00 and prior to services from 10:30-11:30. Interment will be in the Wellsville City Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed online at
