Deborah Ann Evans Reece

Deborah Ann Evans Reece (61) returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on July 13, 2018. She was born to Larry and Marilyn Evans on December 20, 1956 in Rexburg, Idaho. She was the oldest of 6 children. She spent her childhood moving around Utah and Idaho, never spending more than 1 year at the same school. She was the peacemaker in her home and each of her siblings knew she loved them.
She received her Associates Degree of Legal Stenography from Idaho State in 1976 as her fathers prerequisite for her marriage the following year.
On January 12, 1977 she and Daryl Lynn Reece were married in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS temple. After their 4 children were born, Deborah and Daryl moved to Moscow, ID where Deborah received her Bachelors degree in Secondary Education. She had a love for learning that continued though out her life.
Upon completion of her degree they moved to Logan, UT where she spent 21 years at Utah State University. She spent 6 years in the Physics Department as an advisor and the rest of the time was spent in the Undeclared Office as an Academic Advisor. She was loved and admired by her students and all those she worked with. She impacted everyone’s lives for the better. She received the Robins Award for National Advisor of the Year in 2007 and was nominated many times.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved the Gospel. She had a fierce testimony of her Savior and eternal families. She served in many callings including Primary, Relief Society, Sunday School and Young Women’s. She influenced many lives with her ability to love those she served unconditionally without judgement.
She enjoyed keeping up with her active family by training for and completing a ½ marathon and participating in the MS 100 bike ride. As her health declined she continued to support her family in their active endeavors never complaining about her health.
Contrary to her 5th grade report card where her teacher recommended her to read more, she was an avid reader. In recent years she has spent many hours studying the life of her Savior and doing all she could to become like Him. She found much peace in becoming like Him. She was incredibly talented in cross-stitching and her works will be cherished forever. She loved movies, theater popcorn and peanut M&M’s.
Deborah loved her family fiercely and left many memories for us. Each of her children consider her their best friend. Her family was her greatest joy.
Deborah is survived by her eternal companion, Daryl Lynn Reece; 4 children, Melissa Reece Merrill, Jeffrey (Kathleen) Reece, Kristin (Michael) Draper, Jenifer Mae Reece; 9 grandchildren, Liam, Tyler, Dylan, Collin, Dallas, Hayden, Hazel, Tanna, and Violet; her mother, Marilyn Evans; 2 sisters, Lucinda Evans, Tami Schall; 3 brothers, Richard, David and Phillip Evans. She is also survived by her father in law, Vernal Reece, in-laws she loved dearly; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Deborah was preceded in death by her father and hero, Larry Blair Evans.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 12:00 pm in the Green Canyon Stake Center, 1850 North 400 East, North Logan. A viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan and at the church on Thursday from 10:30 - 11:30 am.
