Dee Rich Morgan passed away on 7 May 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Ruth, who died in March this year. He is survived by six children, 22 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Dee was born 12 May 1929, the last child, of John Samuel Morgan and Ethel Mae Rich Morgan in Liberty, Idaho. He graduated in 1947 from Fielding High School in Paris, Idaho where he played on the basketball and football teams.
Dee enrolled in Utah State Agricultural College in 1947. He and Ruth were married November 1951.Dee graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree. He was enrolled in the ROTC as well as his academic courses and received a commission after completing his four years. From 1953-1955, he served his country in the Air Force. He was stationed at bases in Montgomery, Alabama and Mineral Wells, Texas.
He was accepted to graduate school in Madison, Wisconsin in 1955 and graduated with a PhD in Dairy Science. The growing young family moved to New York where Dee got his first job.
His career spanned forty years in Food and Dairy Science in Quality Assurance and Research. It took him and his family from the East coast to the West coast of the United States. He received multiple awards and distinctions for excellence in his work.
He served in many positions in the LDS church including Sunday school, high council, home teacher, clerk, and as full-time missionary at the Family History Center.
He and Ruth traveled the world together, continuing their lifelong pursuit of learning.
Dee Rich Morgan will be fondly remembered and missed by family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 27th at 11:00 am in the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan. There will be a visitation from 10-10:45 am. Interment in the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S. 200 W. will be held Tuesday, May 30th at 10 am. Condolences and memories may be shared online at
