Twin Falls, Idaho: Our dear mother, DeEsta Hobbs Naylor, peacefully returned to her loving Father in Heaven on December 29, 2011.
DeEsta was born to Samuel Catmull Hobbs and Mary Andersen Hobbs on October 9, 1925 in Benson, Utah. She was raised by a loving step-mother, Anna Christina Lord, after the untimely death of her own mother when she was 18 months old. Anna was an “angel of mercy” to DeEsta and her 10 brothers and sisters in addition to her own 2 children. She grew up on the family farm in Benson and attended Cache county schools.
DeEsta married Hyrum Russell Naylor on August 3, 1945 in the Logan LDS Temple for Time and All Eternity. They lived together on this earth for 56 happy years during which time they were blessed with 5 children.
DeEsta began her working career at Woolworths, Sears, and the Royal Bakery in Logan, however, the majority of her working life was spent as a secretary at Hillcrest Elementary School and later co-managing the Utah State University Bookstore from which she retired in 1990. She formed many good relationships with her coworkers over the years and loved them all dearly.
DeEsta was very active in the LDS Church and faithfully served the Lord all of her life. She fulfilled several callings in the Church including Young Women’s President and Relief Society President but her favorite calling was being a visiting teacher. She truly loved the women she served. She and Russell also served a full time mission in Fresno, California.
DeEsta and Russell opened their home to many friends and family members. They had a kind spot in their hearts and were always happy to be of service to those in need.
DeEsta is survived by her brother, Glen Hobbs (Beth deceased) and her sister-in-law, Gayle Hobbs (brother Virgil deceased), her children Patricia Ann Bell (Lyndon deceased), Judy Kay Schoenfeld (Godon), Carolyn Harris (Joseph) and Jerry Naylor (Brenda), 20 grand- children and 20 great-grand-children. She loved them all so much and was concerned about them even in the final hours of her life.
DeEsta was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son (Russell Keith), 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
The family would like to thank all the health care providers, Dr. Reid Harris and Bishop Richard Smack for their concern and care during her final days. They would also like to thank Joan Loosle and Kathryn Cazier who served so faithfully as her visiting teachers for many years. They were true examples of the Savior and DeEsta loved them dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 5, 2012 in the Logan 19th Ward Chapel, 1250 North 600 East in Logan, Utah.
