LOGAN, UTAH: Della LaRue Laker McFarland, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 28, 2012 at her home in Logan.
Della was born on April 2, 1925 in St. Charles, Idaho a daughter of Joseph and Bertha Hymas Laker. She grew up in St. Charles graduating from Fielding High School in Paris, Idaho and then moved to Logan in 1943 to attend Utah State Agricultural College. She worked at the Royal Bakery in Logan where she met Bob McFarland who was home on a short leave from the Army. They were married on June 6, 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Della was an accomplished seamstress and spent many years making draperies in her home. She lived in the same home in Logan her entire married life except for one year when the family moved to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri while Bob was on active duty in the Army.
She and her husband were ordinance workers in the Logan Temple for 25 years. Together they also served for 13 years in the Logan Hospital LDS Branch.
Della was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and her family will remember her characteristics and will miss her.

She and Bob have two children, Suzanne M. Roskelley and Robert Duane and Robbie McFarland who live in Salt Lake City; Della has four brothers and sisters; Grant and Ruby Laker; Lash and Virginia Laker; Ruth and George Alldredge; DeEtte and Gary Lyons. five grandchildren; Jeff and Amy; Jill and Brent; Carson and Robert; Luke, Sam and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am in the Allen-Hall Mortuary chapel, 34 East Center Street. There will be a viewing Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the mortuary and also on Thursday from 9:30 - 10:30 am. Interment will follow in the Logan City Cemetery.
