Deloy Nielsen

HYRUM, UTAH: Thomas Deloy Nielsen, 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Hyrum Utah on Thursday, March 12, 2009. He was born on December 3, 1928, the fifth of seven children born to Leo C. and Marvilla L. Nielsen. He grew up in Hyrum where he attended Lincoln elementary and South Cache High School. He served an LDS mission in the Western Canadian, Canada mission. He married Isabel M. Lank on July 25, 1952 in the Logan LDS Temple. He served in the US Army, eventually returning to Utah to help with the family farm and raise his own family. Deloy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings. His favorite church job was the Nursery. He had been a grandpa to lots and lots of children. He was a member of the Hyrum Saddle Club, an avid hunter, snowmobiler, four wheeler and sports fan. He loved the outdoors. He also served on the board for the Hyrum Senior Citizens Center. He worked for a machinist and
retired from Thiokol. Deloy is survived by his wife Isabel, of Hyrum; His daughter Laurie (Grant) Nelson of Wellsville, grandchildren; Brian (Kirsten) Nelson of Smithfield, Isaac (Stashia) Nelson of Hyde Park, Justin Nelson of Wellsville and Becky (Christian) Corbridge of Fort Hood, Texas; Great grandchildren, NiKaylee and Dayton Corbridge of Fort Hood, Texas; His son Clayton (Maria) Nielsen, Grandchildren; Cory, Amy, Marisa and Shane Nielsen of Hyrum; His son Michael Nielsen, Grandchildren; Tia, Teresa and Trista Nielsen of Hyrum; His Daughter Rene (Tracy) Barrett, Grandchildren; Tanner, Hailey and Gracie of Young Ward; He is also survived by three sisters, Afton (Jim) England of Bountiful Utah, Leila Allen of Hyrum Utah, Colleen (Jerry) Wallace of Logan Utah, and one brother Joy (VondaLeigh) Nielsen of Tacoma Washington. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wesley, sister Twilla, and two grandsons, Riley and Ty Barrett. The family would
like to thank Dr. Nathan Call and Alpine Hospice for the compassionate care of our husband, father and grandfather.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 12:00 pm in the Hyrum Stake Center with Bishop Randy Funk conducting. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm and at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 - 11:30 am. Interment will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery with military honors.
