DeLoy James Elder of Smithfield, died Sunday, September 13, 2009 in his home after a valiant battle with cancer.
DeLoy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 12th 1964 to Dallas James & Vonda Renee Elder. DeLoy was the only son with four sisters. He attended Logan City Schools, graduating from Logan High School in 1982. While at Logan High, DeLoy excelled at Track and Basketball. His record for the high Hurdles has yet to be broken. In 2007 he was inducted into the Grizzly wall of Fame for his outstanding basketball achievements. After graduation, DeLoy served an LDS mission in the Cleveland, Ohio area. He attended USU and Dixie College. He married Lisa Lawrence (later divorced). It was during this marriage that he achieved his main goal in life and became a father. They had two sons, Dallas James Elder and Dakota Jai Elder.
In 2003 he met and married the love of his life Jennifer Davis. Her two lovely daughters Sierra and Savannah Howe completed their family. Jenny remained at DeLoy’s side giving love, comfort and support till the very end.
We love you Jenny!
DeLoy enjoyed spending time with his family and especially loved camping, boating, skiing, four wheeling, hiking and hunting for arrow heads.
From his youth Deloy loved cars and successfully owned and operated Elder Auto Brokers. He was also a licensed insurance salesman.
DeLoy was an active Elder in the Smithfield 13th ward.

DeLoy is survived by his wife Jennifer Elder, parents Dallas James and Vonda Renee Elder, parents in-law Don and Lulavee Davis, children Dallas James Elder, Dakota Jai Elder, Sierra Howe, Savanah Howe. He is also survived by four sisters and their spouses, Vickie Lynn Craw (Scott), Denise Poulsen (Reese), Lisa K Wood (Curtis), Julie Renee Jensen (William). Brother in-law Karl Davis (Shirleen) and sister in-law Sharlene Stokes (Robert) and by numerous nieces nephews and friends.
DeLoy is preceded in death by brother in-law, Glenn Jay Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 17, 2009 in the Smithfield 13th Ward Chapel, 600 East 120 South in Smithfield, with Bishop Michael Lee conducting. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan, and prior to services at the church on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
