Delsa Taysom Wardle

August 30, 1914 — March 10, 2007

Logan, Utah: Delsa Taysom Wardle of Logan Utah, passed peacefully on March 10, 2007 in the presence of family. Mrs. Wardle was preceded in death by her husband, Norval J. Wardle, a daughter, Carol, a son, Ronald William, a sister, Alice, and a brother, Orrin. She is survived by a daughter, Ilene Lyons of Sunrise, Florida, and sons Leon (Lenore) of Wayland, Massachusetts, Terry (Robin) of Pleasant Grove, Michael of Las Vegas, Robert (Chris) of Logan, twenty-two grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was born on the 30th of August 1914 in a new frame house in Rockland, Idaho to William and Ruth Hutchinson Taysom. She was raised in the Rockland valley where her father owned a wheat and cattle ranch. She spoke so fondly of the summers at the Sand Hollow ranch including several years as a teenager cooking for her father, brothers and hired men. On her twenty-first birthday, she married Norval Wardle in the Logan Temple. Logan always held a special place in her heart and they moved here after adventurous years while Norval taught at several schools across the state of Idaho and a twenty-eight year life in Ames, Iowa. She made life-long, dear friends at each of the places she lived. She spoke of treasuring the years in Iowa and the opportunity of gaining appreciation for the goodness and faith of so many wonderful people there.
She was committed to the Latter-day Saint faith as evidenced by unbroken service from her youth until she was no longer physically able. At about age 15, she began serving as a student Sunday School organist working a pump organ. Later, she was a Ward organist. Music within the church was a always dear to her heart. She served as a Mission Primary President for the Northern States and Central States Missions completing a project later published for church-wide use on home primaries in those areas where there were small groups. She also loved genealogy. She especially enjoyed the opportunity of teaching and promoting genealogy with people who were members of other churches in Ames and across Iowa through her involvement in several Genealogical Societies. She traveled extensively teaching genealogy on several mission boards and later served at the Cache Genealogical Library for many years. She enjoyed the proximity of their home in Logan to the temple and served there also.
She loved to cook and had several favorite recipes. At least one of these was submitted to several food companies for consideration as a commercial product. We always enjoyed family gatherings with the great traditions she established for our family.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to all who helped Delsa at Legacy House of Logan and with Access Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM in the Logan Fifth Ward Chapel, 500 East 300 North, on Thursday, March 15, 2007, with a viewing beginning at 9:30 AM. She will be interred beside her husband and children Ronald and Carol in Rockland, Idaho at 2:30 PM on Thursday. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net .
