LOGAN, Utah - Delva Ewing Kofoed, 89, passed away on Saturday, May 3,2008. Delva was born on Feb. 24, 1919, in Smithfield, Utah to Wickliff A. Ewing and Katie Meikle Ewing. She married Welcon C. Kofoed on Feb. 21, 1941, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of three daughters and two sons.
Delva grew up and attended school in Smithfield, Utah. She graduated from North Cache High School. When all of her children were enrolled in school, she returned to USU, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She taught school for the Logan City School District until her retirement.
She was an active member of the Logan 8th Ward where she served in many callings. From 1985 to 1986 she fulfilled a mission with her husband Weldon in the Kentucky Louisville Mission.
She is survived by her children, Kathryn (Bill) Cornish, Pamela (David) Austin, Leslie (Richard) Austin, Clair (Susan), and Jim (Geri); 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Delva was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and three older sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan, with Bishop Mark Firth conducting. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary on Saturday morning prior to the services. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery.
