Denice Rogers Hoppie

Denice Rogers Hoppie, 54, passed away April 25, 2009 at her home, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Despite all the trials she faced, she endured them with very little complaints.
Denice was born April 19, 1955, the third of eight girls born to Joe Benson and AnnaLue Roskelley Rogers. After the death of her father, her mother remarried and had three boys.
As a child, Denice’s family moved frequently, finally settling in Nibley, Utah. After graduating from Sky View High School, she married the love of her life, Louis R. Hoppie, Sept. 6, 1974. Together they had two children. She loved spending time with her family.
Through the years they had many pets, but she developed a special love for her birds, Little Bit and Susie, and her dog, Lady. These were her constant companions to the end.

Denice was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she had loved being a primary teacher and visiting teacher. She enjoyed golfing, working on the knitting loom and riding the Harley with her husband. She was a member of the Hogg and Saddleback biking clubs.

She worked at Circle S and LD’s Café in Richmond, before obtaining employment for Schreibers Foods, Smithfield plant, where she worked until her health began to fail.

Denice is survived by her husband, Louis, Richmond; one son, Junior (Shelly) Hoppie, Richmond; one daughter, Buffy (Travis) Andrews, Fairview, Idaho; mother, AnnaLue West, Nibley; Grand children, Deven, Chelsea, Sierra, Guy, Maykla, Chace, Austin, Celi, McKaden; siblings, Jerrilyn Bingham, Preston, Idaho; Julia (John) Brewer, West Valley; Jackie (Casey) Privett, Duchesne; Tami (Robert) Murray, Richmond; Jean (Brad) Mather, Amalga; Wayne (Tina) West, Salem, Oregon; step-sibblings, David (Kathy) West, Orem; Russ (Dawn) West, Cheyenne, Wyoming; H. John (Shawna), Sandy; Patrica (Russ) Rodgers, Heber City; Tim (Barb) West, Caldwell, Idaho two sister-in-laws, Nancy (Del) Nielsen, Hyrum; and Marilyn Moss, Eugene Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe B. Rogers; siblings, LueAnn Nelson, Jolynn Rogers, Jim West, Robert West; her mother and father-in law, Junior and Afton Hoppie; and step-father, Lee West.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 29, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the Richmond Stake Center, 135 West Main . Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8pm and at the Stake Center on Wednesday from 10:30am till 11:45am. Interment will be in the Richmond City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.allenmortuaries.net .

Denice’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses that cared for her. Also, her wonderful neighbors– who kept a constant watch over her– for all their love and help, and all her friends at Schreibers.
