Dennis Leland Coplen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 82. He was born on October 7, 1942, in Price, Utah, and entered into rest surrounded by his loving family.
Dennis was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully throughout his life, finding great joy and peace in his faith. On June 7, 1980, he married his eternal sweetheart, Linda Coplen, and together they built a life filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories.
A proud veteran, Dennis served in the U.S. Navy for 28 years, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His dedication to his country was matched only by his passion for life’s adventures. Dennis loved the outdoors, spending countless hours fishing, riding dirt bikes, off-roading, sight-seeing, and road-tripping. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his family, creating unforgettable memories through their shared experiences.
Dennis was a man of boundless energy and determination, known for his fun-loving, adventurous spirit, and his loving, kind, and selfless nature. He is leaving a legacy of faith and family that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His family will forever remember the endless adventures they shared with him, his ability to tackle anything he set his mind to, and the warmth of his kind eyes and radiant smile that could light up any room.
Dennis is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Coplen; his children, Dennis Leland Coplen, Jr., Michelle Liane Eldore, William Cory Van Horne (stepson), Chad Barrett Coplen, Travis John Van Horne (stepson), and Nicole Christine Barnhill; 31 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Roger Coplen, Dale Coplen, and Becky Greer. He was preceded in death by his children, Laura Kim McDonald, Heather Felice Coplen, Brendan Scott Coplen, and Michael Swain Coplen, as well as his siblings, Duane Coplen and Judy Coplen.
A funeral service to honor Dennis’s life will be held at the LDS Chapel located at 2850 South 1000 West, Nibley, UT 84321. A viewing will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM, and the dedication of the gravesite at 12:15 PM. Dennis will be laid to rest in the Millville Cemetery.
Dennis LeLand Coplen’s adventurous spirit and loving heart will forever be remembered by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
