Dennis I. Griffin

July 10, 1932 — February 11, 2013

Dennis Isaiah Griffin, 80, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2013, after suffering a serious stroke. He was born July 10, 1932, in Clarkston, Utah, to Brigham and Bessie Griffin, the third of five children. He married Grace Hansen on December 28, 1959, in the Logan Temple. They raised nine children while living in Clarkston and Providence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Renee Buttars (Ed), and his infant sister, Leticia. He is survived by his wife and nine children: Jed (JaNae) of Colorado Springs, Tad (Lori) of South Jordan, Dana (Cortney) Rasmussen of Fresno, California, Penny (Steven) Morris of Layton, Nanette Garcia of Murray, Monica of Oakland, California, Tyler (Kiplin) of Springville, Melissa Watson of Salt Lake, and Matthew of Salt Lake. He is survived by his three brothers and their spouses: Maynard (Virginia) of West Jordan, Nile (Pat) of Ogden, and Terry (Kaylene) of North Logan. Dennis and Grace have 38 grandchildren.
Dennis served in the US Army during the Korean War but was never deployed overseas. He served an LDS mission to the US Northwestern States Mission. He received his Bachelor’s degree from USU in Industrial Engineering and worked at Thiokol for over 30 years. Before suffering a serious stroke on New Years Eve, 1993, he fulfilled many callings in the Church, including serving as a Bishop in the Providence 4th Ward and serving on two high councils. Early in life, he was active in sports, especially baseball and basketball. The last 19 years have been difficult for Dennis and Grace, and his passing is a blessing.
Services will be on Friday, February 15th at noon in the LDS Church at 950 W 1000 S in Logan, with a viewing at 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Providence City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at http://www.allenmortuaries.net/ .
