Dennis R. Thompson was born March 13, 1941 in Logan, UT to Morland and Marie Bolton Thompson of Providence, UT. He died unexpectedly, February 21st, 2015 doing what he loved, snowmobiling in the mountains.
Denny enjoyed growing up with four brothers and one sister. He attended Providence Elementary and South Cache High School where he wrestled and ran track. He married Marsha Miller in the Logan LDS Temple, November 17th, 1960 and raised four children.
Dennis was a hard worker and through the years was employed at Thiokol, Tri-Miller Packing Company, LeGrande Johnson’s, CV Electric, and with the LDS Church.
He enjoyed the outdoors and loved helping people enjoy them as much as he did. He was a member of the Jeep Patrol, which was the precursor to Search and Rescue; and spent many hours teaching his children how to ski while he served on the Beaver Mountain Ski Patrol. Because of his amazing sense of direction and knowledge he always took the lead making sure everyone was together.
Denny loved his country and his pioneer heritage. He served proudly in the Army Reserves and always made sure his grandchildren knew about those that sacrificed for their freedoms.
He was known for his beautiful yard where he maintained the green grass and Marsha tended to the garden and flowers. He could fix or build anything, and spent many hours in the garage sharing his talents with others, never leaving anything unfinished.
He was very proud of his family and enjoyed monthly birthday parties and attending the soccer games and other sporting events of his grandchildren. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings that he loved. At the time of his death he was actively participating in a service mission for the LDS church on Temple Square and Conference Center in Salt Lake City. Previously, he served with his wife at Sky View Seminary with the life skills students.
He is survived by his wife Marsha and their 4 children: Tracy (Judy), Kevin (Carol), Sharla Archibald (Douglas), Ryan (Heidi); 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the Idaho Search and Rescue, Sheriff department and Jordan Webb of Webb Funeral Home for their service to our family.
