April 26, 1932 — April 6, 2011

Dennis K. Allen passed away of natural causes, at age 78, on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, in the Logan, Utah home he shared with his wife.

Dennis was born in Cove, Utah on April 26, 1932 to Theodore Alfred Henson Allen and Zola Bright Allen. His siblings were Reta Bright Allen Spendlove and Jay Ellis Allen. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherrill Reese Allen, who he was married to for nearly 60 years. His son Dennis Randall Randy Allen, and daughters Hedy Danette Allen-Hydo, and Sherisse Allen. His grandchildren are Tracy Nicole Allen (22), Dennis Scott Allen (19), Joshua John Allen (13), Benjamin Allen Hydo (11), Jacob Allen Hydo (9), and Dennis Samuel Allen-Pierce (7).

Dennis graduating from Cache Valley High School in 1950. He served in the Korean War, graduated from Utah State University, and taught high school chemistry in Logan, Utah. He graduated from dental school at The College of Physicians and Surgeons in San Francisco, California, and had a dental practice in Chico, California for over 35 years. Dennis was a long-standing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Dennis was not a wealthy man; he used to say the only good investments he ever made were his children. He wasn’t a famous man; his generosity was usually done quietly. But he was a good man of great character: honest, kind, dedicated, hard-working, he cheered for the underdog and for those disadvantaged, a learner, a listener, a mentor, a caring friend, and a father to far more people than those listed here.

Services will be held at the LDS Ninth Ward Chapel at 500 N. 175 E. Logan, Utah on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at 10:00 AM. A viewing will be held prior to services beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will be in the Richmond City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
