Dick F. Wolfley

December 5, 1940 — March 17, 2013

Richard F. Wolfley (Dick), died peacefully at home, on Sunday March 17, 2013, from complications of a life-long fight with diabetes. He was 72.

Dick was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, December 5, 1940, to Bernice and Agnes Nauman Wolfley. He grew up in Salt Lake, living with his aunt and uncle, Ella and Henry Berhins. Dick met Peggy Ann Kiddle while in middle school. They dated through high school and married on June 18, 1964.

Dick worked for the State Parks of Recreation for 15 years. He also worked for Gossners Cheese from 1978 to 1991 at which time he and Peggy moved to Lewisville, Idaho to build his dream home, a log house. While living there, he worked at Bonneville Blueprint, after which he retired.

Dick was a member of the National Ski Patrol at the age of 16 and served for 35 years and earned his National Number. He served in the US Army for two years and was an accomplished rescue scuba diver. Dick loved animals and was a member of the Rocky Mountain Rescue group where he served with two different dogs and went on many rescue missions.

Dick was diagnosed with diabetes at age 32, this did not stop him from doing anything he wanted to do. In 1999, Dick’s son donated one of his kidneys to him. With this gift, his family was able to enjoy him for 14 more years.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Peggy; children Ken and Tanya Mathys, Reni McBride, Shawn and Deena Wolfley and his eleven grandkids Seth (Frank), Kace and Keslee (McBride), Dillan, Chantz, Parker, Colten and Kirsten (Mathys), Hayden (Hone), and Chloe and Carter (Wolfley).

The Celebration of his Life will be from 12:00pm-2:00pm, with a short program from 12:00-12:30pm on Thursday March 21 at the Logan Golf and Country Club 710 North 1500 East, Logan.
