DIXIE LEE EAMES
LOGAN, Utah
Dixie Lee Tibbitts Eames, 67, passed away the evening of Wednesday, November 16th, in her home in Logan, Utah surrounded by her family with her dear husband at her side.
She was born to Phyllis Dahle and Theo Lamont Tibbitts on Oct. 27th, 1938 in Logan, Utah. She married Kenneth James Eames on Nov. 16th, 1956 in Logan and was later sealed in the Logan LDS temple. Her passing came on their 49th anniversary.
Dixie grew up in Providence and attended schools in Providence, Logan, and Hyrum’s South Cache. She then moved with her mother to Magna, Utah where she graduated from Cyprus High School.
Dixie had a great passion for life. She was a beautiful seamstress and shared her talents with others. She worked at Singer Sewing Machine, Modo Day, and Alco Bag. After her children were grown, she went to cosmetology school and became a beautician. She worked at Elite Hair Fashion and Hair Production Plus. She became very close to the ladies whose hair she did. She even brought them into her home to do their hair after she was too ill to go to work. She had many close and dear friends in each place she worked.
Dixie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many positions. Her favorite was in scouting where she earned the ‘District Award of Merit.’ She gave countless hours of service to the scouting program. Dixie was also in the ‘Northern Utah Quilt Guild’ and a 1st captain in her chapter of ‘The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers’. There she treasured and shared her great heritage.
Dixie loved to travel with her husband, Ken. They spent many wonderful times in their campers and motor home. They enjoyed traveling to many parts of the country and in the winter they would go south to Lake Mead and Arizona. These were wonderful times for them.
Full of strength and courage, Dixie battled her ovarian cancer. In 1996 she underwent many medical procedures including a bone marrow transplant and became a miracle. She enjoyed 9 more years, during which time she served and cared for others who were afflicted and who had cancer. Pain and suffering was a part of her life, she bore it with smiles, laughter, and love.
She is survived by her loving husband, her Angel, Kenneth James Eames; her mother-in-law, Ardella Eames of Logan; step-mother, Lavauna Tibbitts of Paul, Idaho; 2 children, Kenneth Jeffery (Monica) Eames of Hyrum, and Tammy (Shane) Munk of Amalga; 2 brothers James (JoAnn) Tibbitts of California, Richard (Ethel) Tibbitts of Texas; half-brother David Loveday of California; and 3 step-brothers Scott Tibbitts, Scyler Tibbitts, and Greg (Nina) Tibbitts of Idaho; 1 step-sister Karen (Jan) Comstock of Montana; 7 grandchildren, Shaun Jeffery Eames, Amber Melanie Eames, Brooke Leila Eames, Ryan Kenneth Eames, Shanna Lee (Russell) Sexton, Kristol (Samuel) Ogden, and Elder Jason K.
