LOGAN - Donald James Anderson 86, returned to his Heavenly Father on December 31, 2012, surrounded by his
loving family. He was born May 11, 1926 in Logan, Utah to Hyrum and Annie Smart Anderson. He
attended Logan city schools until he joined the Navy in 1944 at age 17. He served in the Pacific Theater
during World War II until the war ended. He married PhyllisVanOrden on May 24, 1947 in Lewiston,
Utah and later in the Logan Temple. He worked for the Conoco Oil for eleven years after which he
was employed by the Logan City Fire Department. He worked for the Logan City Fire Department for
thirty years retiring as a lieutenant in 1987. He was known for his honesty, likeability, sense of humor,
integrity, kindness and love for his family. Donald was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints. Mom and dad were married for 65 years. He is survived by his wife Phyllis, and his
children Katherine (Kent) Lott, Donald L. (Chunlan) Anderson, Sandra (Robert deceased) Cruseturner,
Colleen (Todd) Mott, Christine (Kim) Christensen. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, and 40
great grandchildren, brother Reed (Pauline) Anderson, Sister in Law Bonnie Anderson. Brother in
Law Hugh VanOrden. He is preceded in death by an infant son Michael John Anderson, Son in Law
Robert Cruseturner, son-in-law Clint Ruple, and Grandson Douglas Keith Roskelley. Sister Melba

Anderson. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Allen – Hall Mortuary. A viewing will be held
on Thursday January 3rd, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 34 East Center Street in Logan. Funeral services will be held
Friday January 4th at 11:00 a.m. in the Mount Logan Stake Center 565 East 100 South. A viewing will
be held Friday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Condolences and thoughts may be expressed to the family online at
