Donald Campbell Loosle

Donald Campbell Loosle, age 82, passed away Friday, November 16, 2012 at his home in Nibley Utah, surrounded by his family.
Born March 9, 1930 in Logan, Utah, to William James Loosle and Margaret Paton Campbell, he was the sixth of seven children. Don grew up in Logan, but spent much of his time working on his family’s farm in Clarkston, Utah. He attended Logan High School. Don married Betty Jean Nielsen on October 14, 1948 and they were happily married for 64 years.
At a very early age, Don ran his father’s farm in Clarkston where he became independent and learned the value of hard work. This was reflected in his professional and family life. He loved the land and enjoyed raising crops. With his sons at his side he would make improvements on the wheat farms that he owned and operated. He cleared waste land, making it productive. He built machinery sheds, shops, grain bins and elevators on each farm. He was a good steward over the land and was always implementing more conservation measures.
As a building contractor he built hundreds of homes throughout Idaho and Utah. He loved carpentry and was a great craftsman. He enjoyed working with his hands as he designed, built and operated a cabinet shop, a grocery store and a service station in North Logan. He and Betty ran The Cinnamon Bear, a gift/craft/scrapbook shop, for 21 years. Through his example of determination and integrity, Don taught his family to face challenges, work hard and serve others.
He found great happiness in spending quality time with his family. He gathered his family together for every holiday and special occasion including barbeques on the patio, hotdog roasts, treating everyone to ice cream and milkshakes, and the annual Fourth of July party where Don always instigated a water fight. He also enjoyed going on vacations with his children and grandchildren to Disneyland.
As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many different callings—home teaching being his favorite. He also enjoyed attending the temple and studying the gospel.
Survived by his sweetheart Betty, and his children: Linda (Robert) Edwards; Guy (Pam) Loosle; Craig (LeAnne) Loosle; Eric (Patty) Loosle; Tony Loosle; Peggy (Nathan) Wright; Kelly (Allison) Loosle; and 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters: Margaret (Arnold) Dance; Norma Wallentine; and Bonnie Erickson. Preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Doreen Nielsen, Betty Hancey, Doug Loosle; brothers-in-laws: Elmer Erickson, Glen Hancey, Dean Nielsen; and grandsons: Jason Robert Edwards, Benjamin Loosle, Landen Loosle and Eli Ochsner.
There will be a viewing from 6-8 pm on Monday, Nov. 19th at Allen Mortuary on 420 East 1800 North, North Logan. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20th at noon at the North Logan Green Canyon Stake Center on 1850 North 400 East, North Logan, with an additional viewing before the funeral service from 10:30 – 11:30 am. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
