Donald Eugene Newman (1942 - 2016) died at home 04 08 2016 from complications related to epilepsy and dementia. He was born April 17, 1942 in Aberdeen Washington to Harold E. Newman and Ann Rozmaryn. Don graduated from Ukiah High School in 1960. He graduated from Shasta College in Redding California with an electronics degree in 1964. He worked for California Oregon Broadcasting Co. in Redding California at Channel 7 as an electronics engineer until 1972 when he was transferred to another division of the company, Pacific Telatronics, in Ashland Oregon where he remained until the sale of the company in 1985. The family moved to Logan in 1985 for a USU position as audio/vidoe engineer for Multimedia Distance Learning Center. and wremained there for twenty five years until his retirement.
Don married his high school sweetheart Nyla McConnell in 1961 in Ukiah California. They have two sons, Todd (Betsy) Newman of Hyrum, Ut. and Chad Newman, and three children of Helena, Montana. Don was devoted to his family and referred to them as his best friends.
He loved boating, water/snow skiing, scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, fishing, and visiting the various national parks. He was a private pilot and loved flying as well. Don was active in the Cache Valley Sangha, loved going for drives and walking the riverwalk and green canyon trails.He loved maintaining his hummingbird feeders during the summer.
Don's brother, Harold Newman Jr.,his father, Harold Newman Sr., and his mother, Ann Newman preceded him in death.
The family wishes to express its deep gratitude to Drs. Laura Fisher,M.D., Russell Hirst, M.D. and staff, Walter Reikart M.D of SLC., and Access Home Care/Hospice for thier wondeful care. We feel very fortunate to live in an area where such good healthcare is available.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday April 13, 2016 at Cache Valley Unitarian Universalist Church (CVUU) @ 596 E. 900No. Logan, Ut 84341 @ 12:00p.m. for those wishing to attend.
