Donald Rex Lauritzen (89) passed away April 3, 2016, at the Logan Regional Hospital,
surrounded by his loved ones.
Donald was born May 17, 1926 in Garfield Utah, to parents, Andrew Elmer Lauritzen and
Elizabeth Marie Margrethe Jacobsen.
Don graduated from John H Branch in LA. After high school he worked as a ship fitter until he
was drafted, where he served in the Corp of Engineers.
After the war, he moved back to Utah. He tells the story about going to Brigham City with
some friends to the local cafe to ask "the Beauty" that worked there for a date. He said the
"beauty" turned out to be the "b east" - she turned him down. On his way out he saw a "real
beauty" sitting in a booth with her friends. He asked her out and she said YES.
Donald married his beauty, Donna Reeder, on February 12, 1949. They were sealed in the
Logan Temple on February 12, 1958. He has given many years of service to his church and
served in numerous positions. Some of his favorites have been in Scouting and serving in the
High Priest group leadership and financial clerk in his ward.
Don has worked many different jobs throughout his life, the longest being 44 years of service
as a design engineer at Thiokol/ Autoliv. At the age of 71 he retired.
Don has always enjoyed working and building things. He remodeled every house the family
lived in - at least once. He has always been a good example to us and taught us what it means
to be a hard worker.
